Today in pictures

We could not get to class at 7:30 as a colorful and huge Venezuelan flag was on the stairs of the AUL Building with a sign that read "If you want to go to class, you will have to trample on your country". Other signs: "What is more important to you: Your course credits or your country?", "Socialism is the equal distribution of misery. Winston Churchill", "Study and when you graduate, dress in red to get a job", "The saying ´Better late than never´ does not apply here. Get active right now".
We did have two evaluations, anyway, and there were just 5/45 students absent. They will have to come next Wednesday to my office at 7:40.
I will not post any more grades until further notice. You will have to do required assignments to practice the final section of the course on comparison and contrast. Your vocabulary quiz today shows you are not studying the glossary properly and just cram for exams (there are a few exceptions). New words will not be stored in your long-term memory this way . You are wasting your time (and mine). See you Friday.

Hi Alejandro. I didn´t quite understand what you meant. Were you referring to the university-students-country situation, the assignments, the grades, the trimester, not studying for exams properly? Let me know ;-)

Hello teacher. I do not mind to lose a trimester for my country. We used to stay without doing anything because we think that losing a trimester is bad, but think that if we don't do this we may lose our university and even our country. Don't be selfish.

Ups! I wasn't specific, sorry, I meant about what you wrote "Study and when you graduate, dress in red to get a job", "The saying ´Better late than never´ does not apply here. Get active right now".

I think it's true, people need to be responsible, We study to get a job not because we take advance of the situations, we'll get a job because we're good doing it and by our merits and achievements.

Rondi I don't think teacher is selfish, I understand you perfectly but Do you think she or somebody wants to lose our university? I think there other ways to solve this problem...

Byeee ;)

alejandro i wasn't talking about the teacher, i was talking about the students that don't have an idea of the things that could happen if the goverment approve the reform or perhaps they are selfish and they don't care about it. And if you don't know, the people who has remove presidents in history are the students and the best of all of this is that is in peaceful way.

I really think that socilism is not the answer to the problems in Venezuela, because is not for all venezuelans...some people will be excluid, again (the people who is not according to it). Also Venezuela is not prepared to asume a socialist system of goverment. Because of the high level of corruption in the goverment.

Rodni and Alejandro F., It is OK. I didn´t interpret I was the one who was selfish but people in general, the country, the voters.
I agree with most of the ideas you have mentioned. Let´s hope for the best.
